Don’t Wait for Opportunity to Knock!
Opportunities are all around you. You must look for them, and you have to recognize them. What you can’t do is WAIT for them. Too many people do that—and they get nothing.
Why do people wait for opportunities? It’s because we’ve been told that “opportunity knocks,” and that all we have to do is open the door and let it in.
In practice though, opportunity just doesn’t work that way. To leverage the immense value of opportunities, you can’t wait for opportunities to knock at your door.
What if opportunity never knocks? What if you don’t hear it knocking? And what if the opportunity that does turn up isn’t right for you… but you take it anyway because you waited so long?
Opportunity is far too important to leave to chance. It needs a process.
If you feel that you’ve already missed opportunities in the past, you’re not alone. Most people have missed opportunities. The best opportunities are often captured by upstarts who came out of nowhere and started with nothing.

Even if you’re only leading your own career, choosing opportunities is still your responsibility. In fact, your opportunity hunt should be your primary area of focus. After all, if you don’t do it, no one else will. And yet, I’ve found that most people actively avoid focusing on opportunities. Instead, most people spend their days trying to solve problems that are not nearly as important as opportunities.
